Well-known beaches and Islands for the Tourists

Tourism in Sihanoukville is helped further by the comportment of the Sihanoukville Airport which is a domestic airport now and has plans to bring in to international flights soon. Also, the fabulous beach place is well linked with the road also by the National route 4 from Phnom Penh, perhaps the excellent road in Cambodia. Independence Beach is situated next to Sokha Beach on its west. The beach was named after the old Independence Hotel. This beach provides a good widen of clean sand. Placed at the northern end of the beach is Koh Pos Beach and Independence Hotel with a small island just around 800m off the coast. Koh Pos is known for its rock strewn shoreline.


Koh Russei is also known as the Bamboo Island. This average sized island is situated a few kilometers out from Ream or Otres Beach. There is a small navy base and some beach bungalows prepared for the visitors.


Koh Rong Samlon is a bit smaller than Koh Rong and located on its south. Lovely beaches are on the east coast, where a big heart-shaped bay with some shellfish cultivation is situated, and on the north shoreline facing Koh Rong. The marine life in Koh Rong Samloem is extremely diverse and provides some amazing diving.


Koh Tang is situated quite far from the main shoreline of Sihanoukville. Going there needs trippers to remain overnight on board. It provides interesting diving places most of which are not often explored. The island is home to a military outpost and travelers must wait for boarded by military personnel when come out at the island.

Klong Son Beach is good for:

Short description:

Klong Son beach (or Had Klong Son) is located on the north of Koh Chang. Nice bay at the very top of the island. Pure white sand stretch of beach, shaded with coconut trees. Klong Son gets very low numbers of visitors with the bulk of the backpackers and tourists alike speeding south enroute to Koh Chang's finer and more popular stretches of sand.

Short description:

Koh Chang's most famous stretch of sand, at over 2km long there's certainly room for everyone! Lined with bungalows, food stalls and shops this is one of the best beaches in all of Thailand.

Short description:

Situated on the somewhat less glamorous, northern side of the Koh Chang Island, Klong Prao isn’t all that much of tourist destination, especially for those who are in need of a true holiday experience of the exotic kind.

Short description:

Also known as Kai Bae Beach, this is the spot to catch a great sunset! A few small shops and food stalls are along the beach, a good spot to chill out away from the crowds at White Sands Beach.

Short description:

A well-sheltered bay with a small and quiet beach. It is a fishing community where residents still live in houses built on stilts and are connected by wooden bridges. There are a growing number of tourist shops, scuba dive outlets and seafood restaurants offering a good selection of seafood.

Short description:

There aren’t so much attraction in Salak Kok, but tourists can Kayak among the mangroves. Salak Kok Bay still has a fishing community that doesn’t change so much in many years, a great place to see the real traditional Thai community.
